how to know Him?

I've got a thought: how to know Him better? hurmm...*pondering*

Brother Shah said: "God creates us, but He doesn't give us the sense to see Him..so? How?

We can't see our Creator, but we can see His creations..
We can't hear Him talking, but we get all His messages through Quran...
We can't see Him face to face to talk with Him, but we can ask or tell anything in our prayers..surely, He is the best listener..

Analogy: If we want to produce a protein, we need the protein. So same goes to human beings. Am I right? (this is the only I remembered from the talk. Science is not my expertise, sorry!)

Buddhists believe in 4 Noble Truth:-

1. Dukha - There is suffering in this world.
2. Samudaga - The cause of suffering is due to desire.
3. Nirodha - To get rid of suffering is to get rid of desire.
4. Mangga - To get rid of desire is to follow the 8 Fold path.

4. Right conduct
5. Right livelihood
6. Right mindfulness
7. Right concentration

Taoism

Brother Shah continued his talk by making religion comparisons. INTERESTING!!!DOUBLEPLUSINTERESTING!!!

***reminder: this idea of comparing the religions is not to insult/offense/condemn other religions. It is also neither to win arguments, but to search for the truth.

(I just pick out some of the interesting ideas)

1. Original Sin

There is no Original Sin.

QS: "And whoever earns SIN, he earns it only against himself. And Allah is EVER ALLKNOWING, ALLWISE" (4:111)

BIBLE: "The soul who sins is the one who will die. The son will not share the guilt of the father, nor will the father share the guilt of the son. The righteousness of the righteous man will be credited to him, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against him." (Ezekiel 18:20).

2. Son of God

QS: "He begets not, nor was He begotten" (112:3)

BIBLE: "the son of Enosh, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God." (Luke 3:38) (So? Which one is the SON?)

LOGIC: Son of a CAT is a CAT, Son of a HORSE is a HORSE, but Son of God is a MAN?

3. Jesus is God?

Islam believes on Jesus Christ

QS: "Surely, in disbelief are they who say that Allah is the Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary). Say (O Muhammad SAW): 'Who then has the least power against Allah, if He were to destroy the Messiah, son of Maryam (Mary), his mother, and all those who are on the earth together?' And to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them. He creates what He wills. And Allah is Able to do all things" (5: 17)

BIBLE: ""Why do you call me good?" asked Jesus in reply; "there is no one truly good except One--that is, God." (Mark 10:18)

4. Trinity

When we see that the Bible teaches these three things: (a) there is but one God, (b) that the Father, Son, and Spirit are each God, and (c) that each is set forth as distinct Persons, we have enunciated the doctrine of the Triunity of God. In a chart, it can be expressed as follows:

The three Persons are the same in substance, i.e., in essence or in their essential nature, but distinct in subsistence which describes God’s mode or quality of existence in three Persons. By mode of existence we do not mean one God acting in three different ways, but one Divine Being existing in three distinct Persons within one Divine Substance or Essence. Again, this is not exactly three individuals as we think of three personal individuals, but one Divine Being who acts and thinks as one within a three-fold personality. This is incomprehensible to our finite and limited minds, but it is the teaching of the Scripture. “In the Being of God there are not three individuals, but only three personal self distinctions within the one Divine Essence.”15

LOGIC:

If A=X, B=X, so A=B.

And, if Father=God, Son=God, but Father is not the Son?

ANOTHER ANALOGY:

Father=Flesh and Blood, Son=Flesh and Blood, but SPIRIT?

Last week, I attended a talk by Brother Shah Kirit (Malaysian!!) at University of Cardiff, organised by CNN (Cardiff Nusantara Network). Two days of talk was not enough for me. I need more!!! InsyaAllah..He talked about many things and what I found the most interesting was he could memorise the verses from many holy books (QURAN, BIBLE and HINDU Scriptures).

At the beginning, he talked about TAUHEED. Refer to Surah Al Ikhlas (1-4), he described the implicit meanings of the surah.

1. If there are more than 1 God, there will be quarrel and shared power. (God has no absolute power).
2. No beginning and ending of God.
3. The whole universe is dependent on GOD
4. God can't have anything beyond Him-afterall, that is not God
5. God can't be imagined-whatever you can see is the creations, but God is the Creator

If these are rejected, we may possibly declared as 'syirk', which is mentioned in Surah An-Nisa' (4: 48)

"Verily, Allah forgives not that partners should be set up with Him in worship, but He forgives except that (anything else) to whom He pleases, and whoever sets up partners with Allah in worship, he has indeed a tremendous sin".

This is also related to our IMAAN and CONFIDENCE. Muslims, today, know ISLAM is A TRUE RELIGION, but they are not necessary 'YAQEEN' in ISLAM. It differs. We believe, but we might not be confident. =.='

How to be confident?

"If you love Allah and His Messenger, BEYOND ANYTHING ELSE, that is IMAAN, the SWEET OF IMAAN".

Brother Shah also pointed out the difference between DAKWAH and ISLAH.

Actually, DAKWAH means to call, to invite. That also means as to call to Islam by spreading the messages.

Brother Shah, DAKWAH may suit the action of conveying ISLAM to non-Muslims, rather than Muslims themselves.

Perhaps, the effort of improving ISLAM in Muslims is called ISLAH. So, in short:

DAKWAH: to NON-MUSLIMS

ISLAH: among MUSLIMS
